True to its name, Mertz Family Dentistry provides quality dental care for every member of the family. The family designation also refers to the practice itself. Dr. Peter Mertz and his uncle, Dr. Guy Mertz, have shared the practice in Longmont for the past seventeen years. Their personalized approach means that doctors and staff get to understand the needs of each of their patients. This allows them to provide the best care possible.
Dr. Peter Mertz owns the practice. He has been selected as a top dentist by 5280 Magazine for the past 10 consecutive years, and has Advanced Implant training as well as training in the CEREC and Solea® laser systems.
Dr. Guy Mertz has practiced in Longmont since 1985. He has extensive training in laser dentistry systems, and was recently selected as a top dentist by 5280 Magazine for 2017.
Mertz Family Dentistry has just announced the addition of a new doctor to its growing practice. Dr. Brett Nelson, DDS, is a second-generation dentist originally from Indiana. He moved to "the amazing state of Colorado" in 1999. His wife and two young girls enjoy camping, biking, climbing and hiking in the great outdoors.
"As a dentist, I am passionate about providing the best possible care to patients in a calm, comfortable and relaxed setting," Dr. Nelson says. "I practice ‘golden rule’ dentistry by treating all people exactly as I would treat my closest friends and family members." His goal with every patient is to restore them to optimal oral health with excellent function and esthetics. "I am excited to be joining the team at Mertz Family Dental and continuing their tradition of optimal patient care with the best and latest available technology." Nelson is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Association of Endodontists, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and also a certified Invisalign provider.
Mertz Family Dentistry keeps growing, thanks to the superior care and service that the entire staff provides. To better serve their loyal patients, the practice will be soon relocating to a new, expanded space on the third floor of the Gateway Center, at 1325 Dry Creek Drive in Longmont.
"Mertz Family Dentistry’s new dental space will provide us the platform to continue providing the highest quality dental care while utilizing the latest dental technology in the future," Dr. Peter Mertz explains.
Reflecting on the reason the office has seen the impressive increase in the patients they serve, Dr. Peter Mertz says, "We believe that our staff is a big reason that our patients want to come back. Many have been with the practice for ten years or more. They each bring a high level of caring to their work.

" The front desk, hygienists and assistant staff get to know the individual needs of many patients. "We strive to listen to what our patients tell us about their care and treat them the best, every visit."
Mertz Family Dentistry has a commitment to investing in state-of-the-art, best practice technologies that improve dental care for patients. Dr. Peter Mertz is one of the very few general dentists in the area to use a surgical microscope during dental procedures, which ensures the greatest accuracy possible. Three-dimensional X-rays provide the most complete information for complex dental procedures.

Each step is completed right in the office for same day fittings. Instead of the mouthful of goop you may have experienced from previous dental impressions, Mertz Family Dentistry uses a detailed camera to map and measure the contours of the tooth. The remaining specifications are added into a chairside computer, and the new piece is milled to tight specifications. The immediacy of working right by the patient increases the ability to closely match the new surface to surrounding teeth. Mertz was the first dentist in Longmont to offer this technology since it debuted 15 years ago.
Mertz Family Dentistry serves the whole family, and especially understands how to provide top pediatric dental care while children develop a positive relationship with good dental hygiene.
The practice has given hundreds of patients a new, perfect smile that they love to show off. Mertz’ cosmetic dentistry services include dentures, teeth whitening, porcelain veneers and crowns. Botox and Juvederm treatments are also performed in the office.
Pain-free dental procedures are no myth at Mertz Family Dentistry. The use of several in-office dental lasers allows many procedures, such a fixing a cavity or doing a restoration, to be completed without the use of shots. This game changing way to treat patients has resulted in no-fear visits for children and adults alike.
The staff understands that some patients face high levels of anxiety when it comes to a visit to the dentist. Others simply have a low pain threshold. Mertz Family Dentist offers safe sedation dentistry to make your visit the best and most calming that it can be.
