MARION, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) — Dozens of kids in eastern Iowa got cash for candy Thursday, and helped soldiers overseas in the process.
Ed Family Dentistry in Marion did a Halloween candy buy back program Thursday, giving kids a dollar for each pound of candy they brought in.
The dentist’s office will send the candy to the organization, "Move It Forward," based in Sacramento. Dentist Edward Dye said that group will send the candy to deployed troops.
"So when they’re in Afghanistan or Iraq they aren’t just eating the candy. They pass the candy out to little kids in those neighborhoods they are working in and it’s another tool for them."
The office collected about 40 pounds of candy.
