Marie Ovalle Sokol, deputy general manager of client services for the company’s call center at 5725 Mark Dabling Blvd., Suite 200, said Firstsource’s "continued growth plans for fiscal year 2018 have created a significant hiring need in the region. We are looking to find the kind of talent that will increase our ability to innovate and deploy tangible differentiators that give us a competitive edge in our industry."
The center now employs about 250 and has added 75 workers in the past few weeks and hopes to add 300 more during the next three months, Sokol said. The seasonal positions are full-time through April that could become permanent based on the needs of the insurer, who she declined to identify. The company expects to place more health care business at the center during the next year, she said.
The company also wants to add about 40 workers in permanent jobs who will handle online and mailed claims, as well as additional managers in operations, human resources, recruitment, facility, technology and training.
All of the positions are for eight-hour weekday shifts between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. and mostly handle customers calling in from the West Coast, Sokol said.
Firstsource has scheduled a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the center that will feature a barbecue food truck, live radio, prizes and interviews with same-day offers to all qualified candidates. The seasonal jobs pay $12 an hour to start and include two to six weeks of paid training. The jobs require a high school diploma or GED and customer service experience "demonstrating superior performance and consistent attendance," according to the job posting on firstsourcecareers.com, which also indicates previous call center experience is a "plus."
The company also hired about 300 seasonal workers last year to take calls during open enrollment.
Firstsource employs more than 25,000 in call centers in 19 other states, the United Kingdom, India and the Philippines, serving more than 100 clients in the banking, insurance, health care, media and telecommunications industries, including 17 companies in the Fortune 500.
